Brandon Card On Fishing Your Strengths
I saw a great article on the B.A.S.S. website about "fishing your strengths" despite what everyone else is fishing by pro Brandon Card. The article had reminded me of Ron Shuffield who fished the 2012 FLW Forrest Wood Cup and came up short of the cut. During practice he had been fishing offshore drop shotting with some success, but Ron felt out of his comfort zone; he is known for being a shallow water power-fisherman. During the event Ron totaled up with a two day total of 12-06 and finishing in 40th. Of course after such a good practice and high hopes, Ron wasn't too happy about the tournament. While weighing in on day 2 he said that he made a career out of fishing his strengths and didn't know why he didn't do the same for the Cup. He mentioned that the leader, Jacob Wheeler, was fishing what he has experience in and it hurt him that he didn't try the same. Ron is a great guy and a fishing legend and I had had the privilege to talk to him some before the Cup. Enjoy the article and be on the look out for more!
